This project was WEbrand Agency’s rebranding proposal for Coimbra’s European Capital of Culture 2027 title application.
The development of the visual identity was inspired by the claim previously created: Currents of Change. Coimbra intends to assert itself as an innovative and modern city, receptive to change and evolution.
The focus was to highlight the three main currents of the city: academic, gastronomic and cultural. The branding is based on a young and dynamic graphic language, with fluidity of movement, referring to the concept of “current” and the respective Mondego river. It is also based on a vibrant colour palette, creating a modern brand image with strong character.
